Tips: Types of Healing
Healing comes in many forms. You may receive healing by becoming aware of an issue out of the blue and then talking it out with a good friend. You may feel super tense in your muscles and then get a massage, take a yoga class or go for a long run.
These are healing, yet the healing types I’m outlining below involve more concerted effort, a longer commitment and deeper healing results.
There are so many types of healing available today. The collective consciousness is opening more and more types of healing every day – how exciting!
I’ve categorized these deeper healing types by readings for awareness, at home (you can do it yourself if you choose) and the more traditional hands-on/energy healing.
This is by no means an exhaustive list, yet it’s lengthy. Take a deep breath and allow your eyes to scan over the words quickly. See what pops out at you.
Readings for Awareness:
The first step in any healing regiment is to become aware of the issues requiring healing.
Give yourself permission to gain awareness through a reading.
Akashic Records-are based on a Sanskrit word, akasha, meaning ‘ether’ – elementally and metaphysically. The Akashic records are known as the Book of Life. The records are a compilation of every thought, intention, emotion, deed and action of all human events in the history of time. The records are the etheric blueprint of every soul through every lifetime. They also contain future choice points. A gain reader goes into your records to help you gain awareness, acceptance and appreciation of any and all issues and help you take right action.
Astrology– The big reveal readingis a map of potential. It shows what you might become. The natal chartis a scientific picture of the life your soul has chosen as a process for your own growth. It’s a picture of the inner person just as physical body is a picture of the outer person. The chart illustrates your inner world, unique from everyone else on Earth. Astrology helps discover the inner truth of a life. It has limitless potential to increase consciousness and to shed light on situations. “As above, so below,” is the basis of astrological theory. The cosmos reflect what’s happening in the consciousness of humanity and vice versa.
Body Scan– practitioners scan your bodies – physical, emotional, mental and etheric for blocks, stuck energies or even disease. They may scan with their hands, eyes, pendulum or by other means. Areas of focus are then targeted for healing.
Crystal– crystal practitioners know the healing energies of the stones and can help you with physical, emotional, mental or spiritual issues. They can use them to answer questions, respond to issues for you or use them in guided healing ritual.
Oracle– Tarot cards are often involved in oracle readings. Tarot cards have been around since the 15thcentury and are based upon the Hebrew Kabbalah. However, they incorporate the energies of many other spiritual practices. Tarot cards have been used to gain wisdom, to predict the future, to activate intuition, and to work as a roadmap for life.
Mediumship– There are many types of mediumship and for readings, these readers use the energies of your dearly departed to gain information and messages to share with you.
Palmistry- Palmistry, or chiromancy, is the art of interpreting your character and divining the future based on the characteristics of your palm, particularly its shape, size, texture, mounts and lines. The underlying guidance from the God’s is to “Know Thy Self”as inscribed in the ancient temple at Delphi. Knowing yourself is critical to living to your truest potential. There’s a link between the body and mind and palmistry is one of the most accessible.
Past Life– Past life readings are done for you. The practitioner reads your energy, aura or soul life to get clear on what past lives you’ve lived. This is different than past life regression. Regression involves the practitioner taking you back to your past lives through meditation or hypnosis. You experience the past life and the death as well. These sessions are long and involved and require tremendous expertise. The smoother method is the reading as it allows the practitioner to give you the interpreted information.
Psychic– psychics perceive information and energy to gather messages and answers for you. They are often asked to predict the future and can only project the trajectory of your highest potential. You must take action in order to make these projections come true.
Scrying- comes from an Old English word meaning “to reveal” and is a form of divination. A person focuses their mind by concentrating on an object to fall into a trance-like state in order to ‘see’ information on the surface or within the object. Scrying helps to contact spirit guides, access knowledge, read the past, present and future, participate in shamanic journeying and as a portal to the astral plane.
Soul Sketch- (I’ve only known one person who can do this and it’s amazing.)Reading your auric and angelic energies, the reader sketches different past lives for you while explaining what each means for you now. The energy is activated in the session making it available to you now.
Talk Therapy– psychologist, sociologists and psychiatrists talk you through your issues and this talk bears witness to your story. Giving air to your story is helpful as it brings the issue up for healing. Letting it go is still part of the healing process and up to you whether you do that or not.
Reading Wrap-Up - After receiving a reading, observe what’s reflected in the mirrors of your life. What comes up right after a reading is typically the issue(s) most ripe for healing. You want to take complete advantage of any reading, so plan on follow-up sessions with your reader or another healing practitioner. As your issues come up, healing begins and may be ushered out of your life through awareness, acceptance and appreciation. Also, it’s a good idea to have a few at home methods at your disposal for continuous support.
There are so many therapeutic devices you can use at home to augment your regularly scheduled healing practice. Here are a few:
Access Consciousness® - the premise is change your thought and body patterns to create an infinite life. The key is to release your thoughts, feelings and emotions, be in the NOW and know you’re infinite. It’s all about allowance. There are statements and processes you can use on your own.
Breath–is calming, centering and grounding. When you’re feeling disconnected, remember to take a few deep breaths. Take frequent breath snacks throughout the day – in the shower, at a traffic light or while making dinner. Take 1 – 3 or 10 breaths at a time.
Chanting/drumming– help to quiet or focus the mind while the body relaxes and a meditative state is achieved. The vibration of your voice or drum lifts you to a higher state of consciousness.
Crystal – Crystals and stones have incredible healing properties and assist in manifesting your deepest desires. Remember to clear, commune and charge your crystals for best results. Crystals can enhance intention setting and manifesting in a variety of ways. You can use them in meditation, crystal grids, altars, wealth vases or during New Moon rituals. (You can conduct these rituals at any time, but during the New Moon heightens the power.)
Dream work– dreams are known to be the hidden elements of your subconscious coming to the surface for understanding and perhaps healing. In ancient Egypt, a dream is an ‘awakening’. Capturing the messages of dreams involves keeping a journal, an encyclopedia of dream symbols and practice. Lots and lots of practice. Robert Moss teaches methodology to capture the meanings of dreams.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)- The originator of EMT is Gary Craig at his website www.emofree.com. In 1995, he received the information regarding the meridians in the body and the process to release them. It involves a specific tapping formula for releasing that is found on his website.
Electromagnetic therapy- PEMF restores the positive and negative charges in the cell, enabling it to perform its natural function while speeding tissue recovery. Precise frequencies targeted on four key tissue types resulting in increased circulation, reduced inflammation, improved mobility, and relieved pain. There are mats, wands and pads you can use in the comfort of your own home.
Essential oils- Essential oils are highly concentrated and aromatic. Special care needs to be taken when using particular ones. At home, you can use a diffuser safely and ensure you use the best organic ones available.
Flower essences- Flowers have incredible healing energy. Their own healing properties are blended with the vast imprint of the cosmos as well as with the lifeblood all of Earth’s elements. The the extraction of the flower’s soul or essence is used and doesn’t include any actual plant material. It works on the emotional, mental and spiritual levels, not on the physical one itself.
Herbs- is a folk and traditional medicinal practice using plants and plant extracts. Teas, extracts and tinctures as well as dried herbs utilize the plant’s material for healing physical maladies. It’s recommended to see an herbalist when using herbal medicine as there are many contraindications as well as poisonous species. However, basic kitchen herbology is usually fine.
Intentions– wishes or dreams infused with magical energy for power and practical application for planning and actually realizing your wishes and dreams in your life. Vision boards, infinity breath and lunar or ecliptic ritual adds power to your intentions.
Guided meditations- There are many guided meditation experts who walk you through the steps for relaxation and help you clear or focus your mind by having your mind follow what’s being said aloud by them and not by the tape forever running in your head. Guided meditations may be prefect for you if you have trouble quieting your mind.
Journaling or Channel Writing– writing your thoughts, feelings and emotions is helpful to gain clarity. Gathering information through images, impressions and observations may be captured to add texture. Additionally, writing while in a meditative state allows messages and information to pass from your divine self to you in the present.
Kitchen Witchery- centers around the hearth of the home and hearth fires. It taps into the magic found in household objects, such as food, herbs, stones and many other mundane items. It focuses on the home and herbal gardens surrounding the home.
Mantras & Affirmations- Mantras help in meditation by focusing the heart and mind in a singular fashion. They rely on vibrational resonance as they are typically chanted repeatedly. Affirmations are generally used to reinforce positive thinking or behavior.
Mandala–means ‘circle’in Sanskrit, but the underlying meaning is much deeper. A mandala represents the universe through its schematic drawing, however, it also symbolizes an internal guide. It represents wholeness and may be seen as a model for the organization of life itself. In Asian cultures, a mandala serves as a form of meditation and other psychophysical practices such as; healing, initiation into puberty, birth, passage of death, peace and prayer.
Medical Mediumship- practitioners can read and interpret your body’s energy and physical systems and bring healing to the parts, issues and elements requiring it.
Medicine Wheel– or Sacred Hoop involves the cardinal directions, sky and earth as well as the elements to bring healing to you through the cycles of life. This is an elegant Native American system that aligns with the cycle of the Sun and uses the forces of the earthly and celestial realms.
Numerology– Mathematics translates our spiritual world into manifest, physical formulas. It bridges the spirit with the visible, touchable world and numbers are the letters of its secret language. Knowing the meaning of the foundation (single digit) numbers hold the energies of the Universal Laws. Additionally, numerology is the way to simplify the elegance of math. Knowing it is helpful for planning, healing or manifestation purposes.
Release & Manifest Lunar Meditations– The Moon brings energy to you every single month in a cyclic fashion. New beginnings at the start of the waxing cycle, manifesting during the waxing ones, celebrating at the full, releasing blocks and overcoming obstacles during the waning ones is powerful medicine.
Wiccan Rituals – Wiccan sees divinity in nature as all of the natural world is comprised of physical energy and spiritual substance. There is no difference between the spiritual and physical realms. The Wheel of the Year is used for ritual to honor the passage of the Sun(Sabbats)and the cycles of the Moon (Esbats). There are 8 major holidays to celebrate and honor.
At Home Wrap-Up - Have fun and play with lots of these different methods. Be careful with the essential oils and herbs, but other than that, a number of these methods may be combined and enjoyed to give you support in between practitioner appointments.
Acupuncture - treats allergies, anxiety, indigestion, infertility, pain management, sleep disorders and many other maladies. Many people are fearful of acupuncture due to the needles. However, you still may want to check it out due to the health benefits. Needles are placed into the skin along meridians and other particular points on your body. The needles are SMALL and with a good practitioner, they aren’t nearly as invasive as you may think. There is also the added benefit of the ‘acupuncture buzz’ that you get while you’re being treated. Acupuncture is entering the mainstream as many doctors are becoming adept at the practice.
Aromatherapy– Essential oilscan be categorized as aromatherapy, but they deserve their own category as they can be used in massage, diffused into the air, used in a bath or in some rare cases, ingested. There are many essential oil companies and some of the most pure are Amrita, Floracopeia and Mountain Rose Herbs.
Ayurveda– Ayurveda combines the Sanskrit words ayur(life) and veda(science or knowledge) and is a complete medical belief and philosophy that was developed in India (5000+ years ago). The basic tenets involve the universal interconnectedness (among people, their health, and the universe), the body’s constitution (prakriti), and life forces (dosha), which are often compared to the biologic humors of the ancient Greek system. Using these concepts, Ayurvedic physicians prescribe individualized treatments, including compounds of herbs or proprietary ingredients, and diet, exercise, and lifestyle recommendations.
Chakra Balancing– Either through meditation or hands-on healing, the 7 major energy points along your body, known as chakras, are diagnosed and balanced.
Chiropractic: Network- This type of chiropractic healing involves a group healing room with many tables where you lie down fully clothed and the practitioner assesses your spinal health and energy and clears it through gentle touch release and the use of breath. Shiatsu- means “finger pressure”. Similar to acupressure, this technique incorporates the pressure of fingers, palms, elbows, knees and feet to unblock the flow of life energy at specific acupuncture points. Shiatsu recognizes the Yin (negative) and the Yang (positive) as the two energy forces and the Five Chinese Elements as governing through the energy meridians to vital organs.

Kripalu Yoga-This type of yoga combines the breath with postures and is based largely on Hatha Yoga.
Kundalini Yoga -"Kundalini" refers to the energy of the root chakra which surrounds the area around your lower spine. Everything is done to the #33 and involves a great deal of chanting.
Restorative Yoga- Restorative yoga is focused on relaxation.
Vinyasa Yoga- Commonly called ‘Vinyasa flow’ or just ‘flow’, you'll definitely be moving, flowing from one pose to the next. Other than starting with a sun salutation, no two classes will be alike. It's the most popular style of yoga in America.
Many of these you can choose to do at home, such as yoga or guided meditations, but you may choose to be part of a group or studio.
