Happy May! The month of value.

The expression this month is VALUE. The questions are: What do you value in your life and do you know how valuable you are in the world?

The Tarot card is the major arcana card of the Magician I – Law of Talent.

This card is all about your talents – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual ones. It’s about owning your personal power, realizing your inner resources and using them to express your desires. It symbolizes creation and the ability to manifest your dreams and visions.

Your talents help convey what you value out into the world. You can create anything – anything at all. What are your specific talents? What are your core values? What do you represent in this life? Extract your skills to create what you want to be as you believe all things are possible. The sky is the limit.

Bottom Line: What do you value and how will you create it in the world?

Week 1:

Happy May Day! Otherwise known as Beltane or the halfway point between the equinox and the solstice. This time is one of celebration for the return of the fertility of the land. Its name means bright fireto be used for purifying and healing. This day is one of rejoicing, but also of ritual to cast off the dark and embrace the light.

Today, Mayday is celebrated by children dancing around a maypole to signal the start of the planting season. Have a festival of your own or take a moment to think about the things that are really important to you.

Are you ready to stand out? Venus in Gemini goes out of bounds on the 5th and remains there until June 7th. She does this on an annual basis, but this year, she’s begins in Gemini and ends in Cancer.

First, let’s talk about the definition and meaning of out of bounds. All planets revolve around the Sun and follow the ecliptic path. Every once in a while, a planet says, “Nope, I’m not going to follow the Sun’s rules right now, I’m going to break them.” This planet goes beyond the influence of the Sun and out of the range of the ecliptic path. In mathematical terms, this means the planet goes beyond 23 degrees and 27 minutes or outside of the range of the Tropic of Capricorn and Tropic of Cancer.

In terms of behavioral impact, this quite literally means,  breaking the rules, lawlessness, out of control or gone wild. It relates to the meaning of both the planet and its sign as it travels out of bounds.

So, how will Venus go wild in Gemini and Cancer?

In Gemini – it’s all about conversation, plain and simple. Gemini LOVES to talk. Gemini is fickle, flighty, light-hearted and playful. Gemini adores paradox and stimulating intellectual pursuits. With Venus, it’s about likes, dislikes, love and value. Venus will push you to mentally pursue your cravings, romantic interests and financial concerns in eclectic ways. She will push you beyond your normal boundaries.

In Cancer, it’s about the home, family, roots and the shared signature of love. Cancer is a water sign, so it’s about emotions. Here, Venus will thrust you into your feelings and emotions involving, yup, you guessed it, family, roots and love. It will be unconventional, erratic and even jarring. Venus asks you what do you value? Out of bounds Venus asks you WHAT DO YOU VALUE?

On May 6, the Sun in Taurus excites Neptune in its own sign of Pisces. When the Sun stimulates Neptune, you feel dreamy, intuitive and creative. This is not an incredibly robust time, especially in the signs of Taurus and Pisces. As it’s the weekend, spend a few moments in nature, head to the beach for a long walk or take a leisurely bath.

The next day, Mercury and Venus challenge Pluto and Neptune respectively. Your thoughts, ideas and mental constructs are intensifying under the influence of Pluto. You’re being urged to dig deeply to find the truth, whatever the topic. This is compounded by the feelings of insecurity and distortion the Venus-Neptune combination lends at this time. You’ll have additional lack of discipline, so take care and be kind to yourself and others.

Week 2:

On May 8th, the Sun in Taurus opposes Jupiter in Scorpio creating opportunities for success, fortune and happiness. Both signs signify wealth and value, so make the most of this combination.

On the 11thand 12th, the Sun tones Pluto and Mercury confronts Mars. On the 11th, you’ll feel powerful and in control of your life.   On the 12th, remind yourself to take your time when making decisions and be patient with others as you’ll feel hurried and short-tempered.

The next day, Mercury kisses Uranus in Aries as it passes into Taurus, giving you a glimpse of the upcoming Uranus in Taurus change in the next two days. This is electrifying.

On a personal level, you’ll want new experiences, surprising routines and fun adventures. You’ll be infused with original thinking and creativity. On a global level, expected the unexpected. Stay tuned for the 15thwith the New Moon, but the even more impactful Uranus in Taurus.

New Moon:

The Taurus New Moon on May 15thoccurs at 7:47 a.m. and is influenced by other astrological aspects such as; Venus being out of bounds, Mars squaring Uranus and Jupiter harmonizing Neptune. These combinations hold true as Uranus enters Taurus a few hours later.

I’m not sure how much power the moon will have as it’s superseded by Uranus changing signs, but let’s explore it to find out.

First, Taurus – as it’s shared by both events. Taurus is the bull. She’s fixed, stubborn and lasting. She’s stable, solid and prone to seeking comfort, luxury and status in life. This sign is ruled by Venus - the Goddess of love. She’s discerning as she seeks her mate for intimacy and commitment. She thrives on relationship, striving to attract and connect with others. She also loves calm, peace and harmony. She knows her own value and what she brings to anyone in her sphere. She’s out of bounds right now, so is really stressing these tendencies.

With the Sun and Moon here on this day, you’re drenched in these influences. You associate with love, value, peace and harmony. That sounds good, right? You’re also drenched in the Taurian qualities too. Those of determination, stability, loyalty, dependability and simplicity. However, there is the impact of materialism, obstinacy and complacency.

Mars squaring Uranus the next day is affecting this New Moon and giving you a glimpse of aggressive force, vital drive and energetic fortitude in a bid for freedom and independence.

Meanwhile, Jupiter is beginning to tone Neptune, both in water signs. This encouraging, hopeful and generous power relieves the other planetary effects.

Big Event:

On May 15that 1:24 p.m. Uranus enters Taurus, the first time this planet has entered a new sign since 2011. Uranus is the shock-and-awe planet. He comes in with a bang. There’s nothing subtle about how he interacts in the cosmos.

The last time Uranus entered Taurus was in 1934 and the time before that was in 1850.  Both times are indicative of incredible change in the world. Uranus spends about 7 years in a sign, so 1934 – 1941 and 1850 – 1857. The chronological first is at the height of the Industrial Revolution and the next is the Great Depression and World War II. The Industrial Revolution changes the way people work and live by moving them into the cities and buildings and away from farms and pastures. The Great Depression is fully in swing by the time Uranus enters Taurus, so the impact is about making lasting change. It’s one of banking regulation and social programs. However, the war transforms the way women live by putting them into factories and jobs while their husbands, brothers and fathers are fighting.

In 2018, what changes will Uranus in Taurus wrought?

Uranus brings the future to the present immediately. It lacks grace, patience and kindness, yet is always for the greatest good. Remember that through the discomfort.

On the practical level, Taurus is about land, money, security, stability and women. On a more esoteric level, it’s about what you value.

Uranus will bring change, so think about what’s important to you. Get really clear about what you’re willing to do to have the things you value in your life.

Week 3:

The next day, Mars enters Aquarius and defies Uranus. The willful cleverness planet shakes up the independent freedom-loving one. The cusp of the fire and earth energies will play out on the world stage, but personally, get creative, be inventive and have fun. Make that bid for originality.

On May 18th, earthly Mercury hones Saturn making this a great time for concentration and getting down to those pesky administrative tasks. The next day, Venus enters Cancer and excites Uranus in Taurus. The homebody Cancerian will meet her match under the vigor of this sociable, excitement seeking combination. Perhaps, entertaining at home is the answer. Cocktail party, anyone?

At 10:47 p.m. on May 20th, the Sun enters Gemini where open-mindedness, curiosity and wonder reign. This is an outgoing, talkative time. It’s a lively, vivacious and engaging one too. It’s quick, wandering and filled with paradox, so pursue any intellectual endeavor, socialize and engage others in stimulating dialogue.

Week 4:

On the 23rd, Mercury stimulates Neptune and opposes Jupiter. Your intuition, insight and expansive thinking abounds. The airy Sun complements Mars today for a brave, confident and sexy time.

On the 25th, the Jupiter-Neptune harmony hits exact as Mercury tones Pluto. Your intuition, creativity and inventiveness is at an all-time high. This is also an insightful and powerfully influencing time as you can talk anyone into anything.

On the 26th, Venus in Cancer opposes Saturn in Capricorn and the next day, Saturn asks the Leo North Node for adjustments.

On the 29th, Mercury joins the Sun in Gemini in its own sign. Mercury loves Gemini! You'll be thinking quickly, moving rapidly and engaging others with abandon.

Full Moon:

The Full Moon in Sagittarius is at 10:29 a.m. EDT on the 29thand Venus is still out of bounds. The moon is in Sagittarius and the Sun is in Gemini. This is all about curiosity and the ability to have belief through answers versus an open mind through questions . How open is your mind? How curious are you? How comfortable can you be with not knowing the answers?

Gemini loves to explore as does Sagittarius. This is a great time for it. The difference is Sagittarius is steeped in commitment to faith and belief while Gemini asks open-ended questions. Yet, Sagittarius is also able to stretch the mind without being attached to the intellect. Sagittarius is fiery and yearning for experience and exploration that may involve the other senses while Gemini just loves the mental activity. Each relieves the other.

With Venus still out of bounds, the question of value continues to churn. Now it’s in Cancer. Asking yourself how you value your roots, your attachment to family and your ability to nurture yourself and others are at the fore.

The question of value is woven through the aspects of this month. What do you value? How do you demonstrate your value in this world?

Be curious.

Seek and you will find.
